Lewisville ISD

PE credit, earned on the mats.

North Texas MMA has been an approved external PE credit for Lewisville ISD students and homeschool students for years. Students earn the credit while learning something they keep for life.

How the credit works

Which classes count

The Kids and Teens programs both carry the LISD External PE approval. With classes at 4 pm and 5 pm every weekday, the schedule is built to sit after the school day rather than fight it.

Our philosophy

Serious students believe the martial arts are not about fighting, but living.

  • Self-defense
  • Self-confidence
  • Self-motivation
  • Self-discipline
  • Coordination
  • Respect

It is not mandatory to spar or grapple here, and everything is completed at your own pace. That matters on day one, when most people walk in nervous.

Most fights start on the feet, but police statistics indicate that over 90 percent of self-defense situations end up on the ground. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu covers all four ranges of fighting and teaches a student to control an opponent thoughtfully, without being harmed and without having to harm them.

For parents, that is the whole point: a child who can control a situation without resorting to hitting.
